Hello Class of 1981

Hello Everyone, This is Jeanne (Nowak) Gillisse

I was so excited to hear about the reunion. My husband and I just moved out to Oregon in May.  I am hoping to come home for the reunion. I know that Joanne and Scott are going.

I have been in contact with Paula and Nazali. Joanne and I just hooked up with Nazali last September at a women's church retreart, and Paula and I have been in contact with each other on and off throughout the years. Great two ladies...

Robert and I were living in Michigan for a few years when he was offered a government position here in Oregon last November, so we moved again. We just like the mountains. It's a big plus for Robert who is still flying hang-gliders/sail-planes.

Joanne is doing great. She will be returning back to the work force after taking the last 5 years off to raise their son Chandler, who is the best child ever.. We all say that huh?? Leaving them has been the hardest part of this move. We are in contact with eachother via cell-phone daily.

Well I don't want to over stay my welcome, I pray that I will be coming back for this reunion and hoping to see everyone.. God Bless You,  Jeanne & Joanne

Invitations are out!

Invites just hit the mail this week. A big thank you to Olivia Villareal and Jerry Sibley for not only donating the invites and postage, but also for addressing them all and mailing them.

For those unaware, four of us spent the better part of two months tracking everyone down. Some of you did a great job hiding from us. But we went back through all the yearbooks, graduation announcements and programs to find all the names of our classmates. Whether you graduated or not, you were our friend and our classmate and we all want to catch up with you.

This year's reunion committee is a completely new group of very dedicated volunteers. We haven't done this before, but we really want to make this a homecoming in the truest sense of the word. Come on, come all. We're excited to see you again and have you fill us in on the last 25 years of your life.

And for those so inclined, there are nice blocks of rooms at the Doherty, Days Inn and Holiday Inn in Clare. So there's no excuse. If there's anything you'll need to tip the scales into your coming, like a baby sitter, granny sitter or transportation, let us know. We're happy to help however we can.

Hi Strangers

It's been awhile.  Tricia (Diller, Mose) Reppert here,

I just found out yesteday about the reunion and this site... Rhonda (Fitzpatrick), my new sister-in-law, just told me about all of this... Great job with all the work you have put into this reunion!

This last year has been a buzy one, got married and moved down state... so maybe that's why the info about the reunion didn't reach me.  Thank's Rhonda for letting me know.  Hope to hear from different ones, it's been years with some of you...

A BIG thank you to the 25th reunion committee!!

Hello everyone, it's Michele (Neville) Cameron ........

I just want to thank the reunion committee for the terrific job that they are doing on diligently trying to find everyone.  What an awesome task you have all taken on!  I know I (and everyone) genuinely appreciate(s) your dedication and perserverance.  My husband, Greg, and I are planning on attending the reunion weekend (we'll hopefully be there by 1/2 time of the football game).  I just bought our tickets on paypal and appreciated the ease of the transaction, (great idea).  I am truly looking forward to seeing everyone, and hope that we have a great turn out.  Again, thank you for your efforts.  GO BEAVERS!!!  I still laugh when I hear that...and Greg has gotten great mileage out of the fact that I was a cheerleader for the Beavers.........

September in Michigan

Hey all - my wife and I are trying to figure out what the weather is like in Michigan in late September.  It's been many, many years since I've been there during the fall (in fact, the last autumn I spent there was in 1980).  Does it start cooling off by September 22/23?  It NEVER cools off here in New Orleans, and it would be great to be able to wear sweaters again!!!

Fave movie from back in the day

Okay, how many of us have great memories of going to the Gem Theater to watch a great movie for only 50 cents?  How about the super-salty popcorn they sold there?  Or the opportunity to make out for 90 minutes or so?  It's time to relive those thrilling times of yesteryear!

Paula and I have been talking about hitting a movie at the Gem Theater during the afternoon of Saturday, September 23.  I also plan to call the Gem owners to see if there's a possibility of showing a movie from our time, such as Grease, The Spy Who Loved Me, Smoky and the Bandit - the list goes on!  If we were able to get them to show a classic from the late '70s or early '80s, which would you want to see?  Click the comments link below to post your favorite, and tell us why you want to see it.  We'll work to get one of them on the Gem's showbill!

As for me, I'd love to see Slapshot, the crudely hysterical hockey spoof starring Paul Newman and the Hanson Brothers.  Not only is the movie a scream, but it's filled with hair and fashion styles that could only come from the disco era.  Seeing that movie was one of my best Gem memories!

Missing Persons

Since there's no way to bump the other post to the front, please indulge me in reposting this.

If anyone has a clue how to reach any of these people, please drop us a note at reunion@bhs-1981.com or to me at jan.nearing@sbcglobal.net. Also, feel free to call me at 734-657-5122 or 989-832-5045.

Here goes:

Tammy Benson (last we can find she was in Texas with Larry Firman, but may have returned to the area)

Eric Colmus - FOUND

Curtis Muscott - not a clue.

James D Parker - FOUND

Karen Ripley - less than not a clue.

Jeff Saylor - FOUND

Tammy Schmidt - FOUND

Chas Skotynski - FOUND

Judy Smith -  FOUND

Shari Stewart - FOUND

Shari Tapani - We know she's married and lives in Ohio, but that's the extent of it.

Phil Watridge - FOUND

Craig Weigle (or maybe it's Wiegle...?) - lots of people remember him from school, but nary a sign of him since graduation.

Even if you don't know exactly how to get ahold of someone, ANYTHING, no matter how small, about any of these people would be greatly appreciated. If you remember their brothers/sisters/parents, what kind of work they got into, where they may have moved to, if they're in the area and you see them frequently a certain place, if you ran into them in a grocery store in the UP 10 years ago...anything that might give us a place to search.

All help greatly appreciated.

Your diligent search committee:

Jan Nearing, Jerry & Olivia (Villarreal) Sibley, Doris Grady, Don Dundas, Roger & Diane (Monaghan) Colvin
