Hope to see some soon!
Once again I would like to thank all those involved with the organization of the reunion. Thank you for remembering me and inviting me. I had a great time, and my wife says she enjoyed it more than her own reunion earlier this summer. But how could she not? We were a pretty close class. Having been to other schools, I know that the BHS class of '81 was as close knit as any of them out there. It was fun seeing everyone. I wished I would have had time to chat with everyone there (though that was probably a relief to some that I didn't.) I wish everyone could have made it.
All, in all, it was a good time. I could have lived with less confetti, though (that stuff is every where in my house now, thanks to the fact the boys found a baggie of it. I'll be finding that crap everywhere for a very long time. Thanks, Annette).
So anyways, thanks for the good memory. Please respond to the blog about the email addresses, and let's keep in touch (Annette, that should read let's keep our distance).
Here is my web address for sending stupid inane things that we find on the internet. Nothing (so far) is too offensive for me. Just list in you subject line that I shouldn't open it in front of kids.
DeWayne Probst and dewteach2001@yahoo.com looking forward to continuing the conversations.
Greeting everyone,
I have been reading all the messages from all of you over the last months and I am touched on how close most of us are after all these years. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all of you on the committee for your hard work, on the web site as well as how much time you all have put into the the scheduling of events and the planning of the galla not to mention tracking all of us down. Then, on top of that remembering all the quirkey little things we did in school, I have to admitt my memory is foggy at best most of the time, I'm happy if I can remember my own name at the end of the day.
My most poignant memory from school is when we were riding with Annette Howe in her jeep after we all had been drinking, I think Steve Zunich and Craig Bergman were there as well,(foggy memory here), but I remember her driving us into a ditch, here is the scene Annette is behind the wheel I'm in the passanger seat Craig and Steve are are in the back. We are leaning at a 45 degree angle freeking out. Annette says causally don't worry this is a jeep it has four wheel drive, but I don't know how it' works. Then (foggy memory) I can picture his face and his car but can't remember his name. I think it was Steve? (he wore his hair in an affro), and he drove a light blue 2 door Chey Caprie, he pulls up at the same time with a jerk strap and he yanks us out.
Now fast forward may years, I'm working for Sheriffs dept as a marine instructor, I am going into the Jr. High to teach the eighth graders boaters saftey, after parking my squad car in the parking lot across from the portables (still there after all these years) I'm in uniform and heading to the door when I hear someone call my name. At first I didn't pay any attention and continued heading to the door. Then someone called my name again only louder and the voice was getting closer. I stopped and turned around and here comes Annette running across the parking lot towords me, when she gets to me she grabs me by the shoulders (no strange feet I'm still 6' 4") and looks deep into my eyes and say I KNOW YOU!!!!, at first I thought she was joking, and I replied yes Annette I know you too, then she say, NO YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND I KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!!!!!. It was only then that Annette told me the story of her accident and her memory loss. I had not known that her long term memory was mostly gone and most of us she had spent years with she couldn't remember our names or faces. But that moring in that parking lot she saw me through her classroom window, and somewhere deep inside her brain a memory of who I was from years past was triggered. Of all the memories I have from then to this day, that was the most deeply moving and humbling experience I have ever had.
Now for the rest, as fate would have it I will be flying into MBS Saturday @1:00 on business, if it's not to late I would like to attend if it's possible for drinks and dinner on Saturday night, however I have another engagement as well latter that evening, but I would love see you all again. They say that everything happens for a reason, and timing is everything.
bye for now
Bill Brushaber
It will be fun reliving the old times with everyone. Highlights I remember; Troy's 8th grade party. working on floats. The corporal punishment back in the day, like Mr. Vaughn's class, or the time Rob Fassett coughed in English class (Spaulding) I offered him a cough drop and Krystal looked over (I think that is how it layed out) and the three of us got kicked out of class and ended up in the office. I got a swat that day. coming back to visit after i moved away. Jeff Z has the most bizzarre way of eating eggs, Ralph and I used to sing and entertain the bus after we returned from Wynegers (sp) And many other things that I'm sure will (hopefully) delight or embarass (in a good way) many people. I just wonder if after this Saturday, will my wife look at me any differently. (prob'ly, though it may explain my sons' presonalities).
...that is the question. Now I have an answer! For those of you who used PayPal and didn't have anything charged to your credit card, we now know why. Instead of selecting PayPal as the payment method, "bill me" was selected instead. Not a problem! Those who did that can simply pay by check to Laurie when they show up.
In fact, payment by check is the preferred method now that we're so close to the reunion. For those of you who want to come and haven't paid, we want you there! So bring your checkbook and a willingness to have a good time!
See you on Friday!
Adam
I'm too excited to sleep! My family is leaving New Orleans around 5 p.m. our time, and we're arriving in Detroit around 8:20 p.m. I can't believe all this planning and work is about to pay off!
There are a lot of people who made this happen, but the one I'd like to thank first and foremost is my reunion cohort, Paula. We've sent each other literally thousands of messages over the past five years, and much of that was talking about what we thought might make a fun reunion. I'm sure I can say for the both of us that we're glad we had this opportunity to work together to bring this weekend to you. We hope it can come close to the successes of the past.
Remember, it's not too late to get tickets! Bring a check to Laurie either Friday or Saturday, and you're in! We can't wait to see you.
Also, another thing - the Web site will look a bit neglected for the next four or five days while I'm in Beaverton. I was going to bring my laptop and update as we're there, but I thought that's more work than I'm willing to do when I'm supposed to be having a good time. But I do plan to keep this Web site and the blog going for as long as people want it. I will certainly post pictures of the reunion for those who can't make it (and as a reminder for those who do make it!).
See you on Friday!
Adam
I'm not sure if I'm going to come to the reunion...these blog entries are so entertaining that I might be disappointed if I get to the reunion and I start comparing it to the blogs. Maybe we could find someone who could put all of these subjects/comments into a sit.com. like Seinfeld...a show about nothing. What would we call it? "The Beaver Trap"?
I wish we could have all gone to college together....nobody would have graduated, 3/4's of us would defineitely be addicted to something, but we'd laugh a lot.
So, who else is bringing Capt. Morgan's/diet coke to the tailgate party? I'm bringing a travel coffee mug to drink my "coffee" in....what do ya think? I'm not gonna hang by Paula, I'll surely get busted! Ha!
See you soon! Michele
Here I sit at work. My students are all busy doing work. We're listening to my MP3 player putting out some good old classic rock. My grades are all up to date, everything is done, and I am bored. Just out of curiosity, how many of you are at work and checking this out? Will there be name tags for us Saturday? Also, will they be colored so we can tell the difference between classmates and spouses? Man the last thing I want to be doing is catching up on old times with someone that I never met before, while everyone else is laughing at me. Of course this will be offset if Adam is dancing. I just need to remember the wisdom of Will Smith in regards to dancing. From Hitch, "This is where you live."
So anyways, as I ramble on and on, It looks like there is going to be a pretty good turn-out, but there are some names that are missing from the list. Hopefully there will be some late comers.
Paula I have an interesting (in the eye of the beholder) story as to how I ended up in your driver's ed car.
So anyways, I guess I should get to work and actually do something to earn the big bucks (ha ha
)
Bye for now,
DeWayne
I wish I would have requested that song for the opening song. How appropriate it would have been... but our song requesting days are done.
Its time to put on our dancing shoes for the songs selected and jump back in time for one night. We can pretend we are young and stupid (instead of old and stupid) with no cares in the world (other than what your teens are doing while you are away...)! Can't wait to see everyone!!
Hey! On the tail-gate set up schedule starting at 3:00. For those of you not familiar with the Beaverton Schools to approach to their acadamic schedule, school is not dismissed until 3:20. And with the New High school built in the old Crockett field (you know the field where the cows would line up along the football fence- har har) ANYWAY... that's now the high school, so the buses will come swarming into the parking lot from the elementary schools at 3:20 and park all over the big parking lot to the east of the football field between the new high school and old high school (middle school) and there are always swarms of parents waiting to pick up their kids required to park outside of the gym door and band room. Set up might not be effective until 3:30-4:00.
I'll pass on the info of our festivities to Roy Johnston (assistant principal) ... and I'll tell him to ignore those of us who decide to relive our youth and venture up onto the room with beverages ... ha ha ha ha ha -- Annette
Just a few more days and we'll all be together again! Can you believe that it has come so quickly? It seems like just a few weeks ago when Paula, Laurie, and I first started talking about the idea of doing this reunion, and here it is. Thanks so much for all those who pulled together to help make this happen. We hope it will be a lot of fun for everyone. And now that Annette and Brook are going to be there, how could it be anything but fun?
It appears that the weather is going to be uncooperative. If you look at the long-range forecast, it is clear and sunny on Monday...after everything is over! I hope the weather guessers are wrong on this, especially on Friday night. Olivia is making her award-winning chili for the tailgate, and we don't need any rain to dampen the festivities!
We hope everyone can join us for Grease on Saturday afternoon. Big thanks to Gem Theater owner Henry List for allowing us to use the theater for this function. Should be fun!
It also appears that a euchre tourney is starting to form. We don't know how we're going to do it yet, but we'll get it figured out!
We can't wait to see you all. If you have any questions or comments about the reunion, please contact us anytime
I want to warn everyone now because both Brook and Paula are planning to run their euchre grift on those gullable enough to fall for it. Don't be played for a sucker! Here's actual quotes from Brook and Paula when Doug Keely and I played against them in Mr. Southworth's class:
"Paula, you know what song I really like? 'Queen of Hearts' by Juice Newton."
"Brook, have you ever head that Styx song, 'Queen of Spades'?"
"Hey Paula, I'm thinking of joining a few clubs. Which do you think I should join?"
"Brook, you can borrow my diamond earrings for the dance, if you need them."

You've been warned!
Adam
Hello all!
It's my turn to post a quick note -- I'm sitting in class at Beaverton Junior High School (which, by the way, was Mr. Locey's room in our High School career) writing a letter while an assignment has been given. heh heh heh When I graduated from Beaverville, I never would have predicted that I would be a teacher, let alone ever return to Beaverton. But when I returned to Beaverton over 15 years ago, I don't regret coming back to our quaint little town. I missed the last class reunion for no good reason.
I am so very thankful for all of our classmates who have contributed to organizing this years gathering to encompass the entire weekend. WOW! With hecktic life-schedules, it makes it easier to fit something in sometime.
The homecoming festivities sounds great!!! And those of you who will be watching the game, my son will be playing, #7 Dwight McCann, and also Mike McCoy's son Willy, and Kurt Newman's son Zak #3, and Don Dundas's son Cody, (those are just our classmates with boys playing varsity) It's a privilege that our kids are friends and it won't be long until they're doing the same.
I won't be able to attend the Saturday night bash at the Doherty, but hope to visit at the BT after the game or at Grease or at Delanas. See you soon! Annette
P.S. My oldest son (21) is with the US Army, 2nd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division of Fort Carson, Colorado as the Squad Designated Marxman deployment to Iraq in October for one year. Please pray for the safety of all our soldiers and military service people.

Hey all - we just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all those who have planned past reunions. It's a lot of work (as all of us found out!), and we may forget from time to time to show our appreciation for those who did all the work for other reunions (specifically Kelly, Troy, and Nazali). We've had four reunions to date (1985, 1991, 1996, 2001), and all were a lot of fun for everyone in the class!
Personally, I remember how Troy and Brook did a fantastic job getting a hold of everyone they could for the 15th and 20th reunion. We're lucky today to have a vastly improved Internet to hunt people down, and I'm amazed with how they tracked so many people down with limited resources. We hope this reunion can come close to being as good as the ones you guys threw!
Thanks so much for your work to keep a tradition going all those years. It's great to touch base with everyone because we all began our adult lives on the same day. See you in a few weeks!
Adam
