Hurrication
That's local speak for "Hurricane Vacation," which is what we're on in Memphis right now. The weather here in Blues City is fantastic - sunny, blue skies, and warm. I'm sure it's a stark contract to what's going to happen in New Orleans over the next 36 to 48 hours.
The family is doing well! Please don't worry about us now because we're safe and sound, enjoying a free breakfast at the Homewood Suites in the Germantown area of the city. We have a Whole Foods nearby, and many great restaurants, so we're set.
At this time, we don't know how long we're going to be here, but one thing is sure: If we're here for three to four months, we're finding a preschool for Jackson! He's a great little boy, and he needs to be around kids his own age from time to time. Also, if we're here for awhile, I may consider running for city council. I'm sure they need opinionated outsiders telling them what they've been doing wrong for decades. I might even start a blues band.

The All-Doofus Blues Band - I'm the second doofus from the left.
Jackson just woke up, so we're going to get him ready so we can explore our new hurrihome. I'm trying to talk Miranda into visiting Graceland, but she's balking at the idea.

I don't know why. I hope we get to see the infamous bathroom where the King bonked his head on the throne, but I heard they don't show that on the tour. What if I have to go to the bathroom?
Okay, we're on our way out. More later!
Adam

Adam, I am glad to hear you and your family are safe in memphis, please tell Miranda I said Hello and when are you guys coming back to AK?
Paula asked me why I never chatted on our BHS website and I said "I don't know why" so here I am. I read and thoroughly enjoyed the mid-life crisis string of comments. First and foremost, I have to comment on Dewayne's balls hanging out. When I read about the exposed balls while wearing a muscle shirt, I sat for quite some time trying to understand anatomically, how one's balls are exposed while wearing a muscle shirt? Intrigued, I read further and was relieved to find that it was Chip's balls not Dewayne's, or was it Dale's, I forget now!
No tattoo for me. I tell myself why draw attention to that which is prone to "drooping", hahahah. I know there are less droopy parts of the body than others that I could tattoo but basically, I'm a wimp and don't think I could sit thru it.
I'm really liking the road trip idea, sign me up!
One last comment from the "last frontier" How about that Sarah Palin! I'm still in shock over that one

ps. Route 66 is now in sections because of interstate, though some areas keep stretches of the road intact for historic purposes. (Williams, AZ is one)

Unfortunatly, they do not take you upstairs. I have been to Graceland and the standard talking point is, "Elvis never took guests upstairs." During my last visit I actually got a better reason from a tour guide that has worked there for several years. There is no way upstairs and another way down. It just isn't safe to have that as part of the tour what with the volume of guests they have. If you do decide to go to Graceland be sure you get the military price or even better go over to the base and get the tickets from MWR and then you wont have to wqit in line when you get there. Again...you must eat at BigFoots Lodge in downtown Memphis!

Adam, it's cool how you can make us smile and laugh as you go through this difficult time. I do hope you get to see the infamous bathroom where the 'King' "bonked" his head. If you do, I wanna see pics. :) I have never been to Memphis but it sounds pretty cool.
Lisa, it's about time you started talking to us. And I agree.......how about that Sarah Palin! That decision of McCain's has now really confused me.... I will figure it out before election day though. :)

Adam,
My thoughts are with you, and the family. If you stay in Memphis, try Jim Neeley's Interstate BBQ, I ate couple of times in my travels, Good Food, not too pricey. Be safe.
Good to hear from Lisa, and Colleen.
Lisa,
What are your thoughts on Ms. Palin?

In regards to Palin, I'm not sure, she's a well-liked governor overall here but has her own set of issues going on here in AK (questions surrounding the firing of someone). Though compared to some politicians and the whole scope of corruption, not sure if it's that much of an issue. I'm not sure if she's ready to step in as President if needed, makes me a little nervous.

Lisa,
Good to hear from you.
My ex-brother-in-law (still good friends) lives in Wasilla.
First off, it's his nuts as in acorns. Secondly I have no business wearing a muscle shirt.
As for Palin; well, she is hotter than Cheney, and that's something.

Ohhhhhhhhh, I knew something didn't sound right as I was typing that blog. I kind of wondered what kind of sick tattoo you had, hahah
What's your ex-brother-in-law's name? I now live in Willow but use to live in Wasilla. As for Palin, whe's well-liked in AK and I thought she gave a great speech last night. Yes, she's way better looking than Cheney or for that matter Biden
